cisco 1841 Commands for troubleshooting high CPU Cisco 3900 Router randomly losing connection to the internet

we have faced cisco router 1841 issue past two days. router disconnect frequently. as we checkin router cpu utilization is 98%. i have changed the another one router isco 1841 (same model) and configured but second router also have same issue .

please kindly help me to resolve the issue. my router show proc cpu sorted below and error msg also attached

Routers generally process traffic in the CPU because they do not have dedicated hardware (like TCAM in switches) this is why in your case NAT is being handled by the CPU which is not wrong but it is a simple case of excess traffic being sent to the CPU that what it can handle

Follow up questions -

- Can you tell us what is the Bandwidth of the Internet circuit ?

- What is your NAT config ?

- Was there a circuit upgrade done prior to this event ?

Can you confirm what NAT are you running, Domain-less Nat for instance ( no ip inside/outside) can be very resource intensive to a small rtr such as this.

the configuration looks the most basic, the only thing you could do is remove the 'ip dns server' line:

scad#conf t

scad(config)#no ip dns server

I would say the router configuration looks "suspiciously" basic.

I mean, the configuration for a home DSL router is about four times longer than this but for a business router, I have never seen a configuration so "clean" or basic as this.
