Cisco 1941/K9 CCP Express 3.2 not working.

Hi there, thank you in advance if you can help :)  We have just installed a brand new out of box 1941/K9 router.  When I go to 10.10.10.1 I get the "Windows Security" login, put in cisco/cisco, and then get the "Cisco Configuration Professional Express 3.2" welcome screen telling me to please wait.

Initially I got the main menu, I could either select the Quick Setup Wizard or the Advanced Setup.  Selecting either would spin the loading icon on the browser for a bit and then I'd get a white page.

After trying this many times in IE 11, Chrome, and Firefox, updating java, updating java security settings, downgrading java, and finally uinstalling java, I logged into the router with telnet and changed the password because I was afraid it was going to eventually lock me out.

Now that the username is admin and the password is changed, whenever I hit 10.10.10.1 I get the CCPe 3.2 menu with 10 options on it, all of which do the same thing, which is nothing.  I just get a blank white page.  Again, I have tried in 3 different browsers and nothing will work for me.

I am not a cisco professional but was told to get this particular router by our new VOIP company.  I think I can configure it with cli if I have to, but I would really prefer it that the gui works, even if I do wind up configuring it through cli.

I really have no idea how cisco support is supposed to work, I tried to ask our reseller ahead of time if cisco would give any kind of support if I didn't buy a contract but they never answered me.  This is the second 1941 we've purchased, the first one was clearly used but sold to us as new by a different reseller and cisco wouldn't even talk to us about it when we had a problem with it.  I figured I'd try here before contacting support again.

Hi

You will only have support on the device if you paid for it through the reseller other than that you will only get warranty support if it breaks again through the reseller as they purchased it from Cisco

If a reseller sold you a refurbished device as a new one that's completely illegal and should be reported , I would contact the reseller that sold it and let them know your informing Cisco there selling second hand devices as new see what they say

To get support the serial number of the device must be bound to your cco contract id with cisco so you can raise cases against the particular device with Cisco TAC for tech support other than warranty , this costs extra and needs to go through the reseller to purchase it , frontline Cisco wont deal with you unless the contract is valid

I don't use ccp but one thing I have found with Cisco software that uses java is the java needs to be exact version sometimes or it wont work , try the below version if you have not already

Also have you tried both http and https do you get the same results for both ?

Theres a few more things you can try in this link as well

I already returned that device, but it was very frustrating.

The problem with having the "exact" version of java is that I have been unable to find specific requirements for this version of ccp e (3.2)  I found one for an older version and installed an older version of java (which I had around since they don't seem to let you download them anymore).  However, 3.2 may have different requirements, do you know if the requirements you posted are specific to 3.2?

And yes, I have tried http and https.

I will look at your link, thanks for responding!

there specific to 2.8 that was the latest guide I could find that told you exactly what java to use , the 3.2 doesn't seem to say but it does give then below , link as well

Its not just Cisco java is a nightmare , have other vendors have same problem fortinet , tipping point etc  , we even keep old xp laptops around with specific versions just to access certain products we have as we have ran into so many problems with it

Supported Browsers

Cisco Configuration Professional Express is supported on the following browsers:

  • Mozilla Firefox 25 or later
  • Google Chrome 30 or later
  • Internet Explorer 10,11

Cisco IOS Releases

Cisco Configuration Professional Express requires Cisco IOS Release 15.2.4M2 or later, or Release 15.3.1T or later for all SKUs. To get all security features support use the release 15.5(1)T. For CCP Express 3.2, it is highly recommended to use release 15.5(1)T.

Heres 2.8 release guide that had the java in it

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_configuration_professional/v2_8/rlsnts/ccp_v28_rel_notes.html

Yes, that is what I found also which confused me, as Chrome no longer supports java, and there is absolutely no mention of java in that document, which made me wonder if the new version is not supposed to use java.

Did anyone ever get the answer to this?  I'm having the exact same problem with the same router.

Nope, I'm currently waiting for a support contract to be activated so I can engage Cisco Support.  It's been over a week and I still don't have it :(  What a pain.

If you end up getting anywhere could you pass the answer on?  I would greatly appreciate it!

Well I just found and installed JRE 1.7.0_17 which is the latest version listed in the 2.8 release guide, I also added the run-time parameters (which I have *never* had to do before) and also disabled the next generation java plug-in, still no go.  I tried it again with and without compatibility mode (IE11) and I also tried it in Firefox again.

I actually just tried it with https again and it's not connecting to it at all with https now because IE doesn't like the certificate, I'm pretty sure I was able to do that before, but it may have been the first router I had.

Hello,

it might just be a problem with the display of the site in IE. In IE, you could try to add 10.10.10.1 to the Compatibility View list:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17472/windows-internet-explorer-11-fix-site-display-problems-compatibility-view

I tried adding it to compatibility mode and to trusted sites with the security set to the lowest.  I also tried it in Firefox and Chrome.  Chrome is the browser that I use and I believe it says it is supported, though I don't know how since it doesn't support java anymore.  I'm not sure if the new version of ccp e requires java or not since the screens all look the same in whichever browser I'm using, although viewing the source of the page it is full of java references.

I have the same issue with a c867vae-w-a-k9 running Version 15.3(3)M6, Release Software (fc1). I've tried to get ccp express to work from 2 machines, one with java and flash and one without. I've tried different versions of java, I've tried IE and Chrome. I've installed the latest version of ccp express on the router, I've reset the router to factory default and tried it, same issue.

FIXED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Download ccpexpressAdmin_3_3_en.tar from

https://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?i=!y&mdfid=281795035&softwareid=282159854&release=3.2&os

Follow the instructions in "Installing Cisco CP Express Admin View" but replace the filename with the one listed above.

This is the second time that I did this. The first time I used Pumpkin, which I like, but sometimes has a hard time transferring large files. This time I used Solarwinds tftp server and it worked great. By the way, I couldn't back up the IOS from flash with Pumpkin either, but I could using Solarwinds tftp server.

I think that the final fix was using Solarwinds. I think that somehow the tar file got corrupted during the transfer with Pumpkin.

HOPE THAT THIS HELPS
