Cisco 2921 ISR for routing 100Mbps ISP internet?

Hello Experts,

My Customer is planning for hardware upgrade on the existing network infrastructure.

He wants to know the multicast capacity of ISR 2921 (@512MB DRAM) to support him to justify the hardware replacement to ISR4K model(s):

  • Max number of multicast groups (IPv4 IGMP)
  • Max number of mroutes (IPv4)
  • Max number of PIM neighbors

** The information cannot be found in ISR-G2 datasheets. **

Many thanks if you can advise the relevant information URL(s).

Let's discuss internally.

Hi Hector,

The Customer currently uses the ISR2921 (about 100+ units) for multicast applications . The traffic performance is not his primary comparison parameter.

In fact, ISR2921 has not yet been "End of HW Support" that he wants to have some application specific requirements for new hardware upgrade. The number of multicast parameters (e.g. IGMP group, mroute and PIM peers) from Cisco are then required for his evaluation report.

I have already sent him the parameters of ISR4331 but cannot find the similar ones of ISR2921.

Many thanks if you can point me the internal site(s) or document for reference.

Best regards,

I’ll put you in touch with the correct resources internally.

Hi Hector,

Many thanks for your support.

Best regards.
