Hi Alison,

Yes, it would be advisable to upgrade the software to 15.0.2-SE4(ED) prior to installation as the current release

15.0.2-SE(ED) is affected by a software advisory.

Cheers

Brett

Thank you for the imput, Brett.

I tried to tftp the file but got error messages here. It looked the file loaded but then it could not find it. it is confusing. can you please help? I also show you the currect image file I have on the switch. thanks,Alison

Hi Alison,

Please post "show version", "show bootvar"

Also which tftp software are you using? ftp may prove more reliable. Some tftp servers have a file size limitation.

Thanks, Bred.

I am using Solarwinds tftp server. here are the show results.

uick and Easy Answer:

3750/3600 series:-I recommend a "stable" IOS, then 12.2(55)SE7 .  This is followed by 15.0(2)SE2(If you required 802.1x support) else 12.2(55)SE7 is the best.

2900:- 15.0(2)SE2 works well with 2960/G/S even with 802.1x.

Hope this answered your query.

thank you for the input.

Here is the Caveat resoved in 15.0(2)SE4. Since we are using TACACS+,  I think it is very important that we need this issue resolved.

Do you know if this caveat exists in any previous versions or in v 15.0(2) SE2?

thanks,

Alison

Caveats Resolved in Cisco IOS Release 15.0(2)SE4

CSCug62154

When the switch is started using TACACS+ configurations, the CPU utilization increases to 100% and the VTY device does not work.

The workaround is to remove the TACACS+ configurations and restart the switch.

Alison,

The bug is fixed in following releases:

15.2(4)S3.3

15.1(1)IB273.54

15.4(0.4)S

Hi Alison,

I can see two issues here. Firstly, the 15.0.2-SE4(ED) image requires 64MB of free flash space and you only have 32MB of free flash space available. This means you will not be able to store both the old and new software images. You will either need to delete the old image or upgrade the flash so that you can store both images. Secondly, it appears that you are attempting to use the archive command to install a binary image (.bin). You need to download the IOS version that includes the web based device manager (.tar). The filename should be "c3560e-universalk9npe-tar.150-2.SE4.tar"

Check the following URL for details on how to delete the old image and install the new image:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/hw/switches/ps646/products_configuration_example09186a0080169623.shtml#concept10

Hope that helps.

Rgds

Brett

what command do you use if you down load .bin file?

Hi Alison,

The procedure to use the .bin file is discussed in the same document I linked previously. There is a section called "

Step-by-Step Procedure for the 3550 with Use of Only the Cisco IOS Image (.bin File)". You will need to use the "copy tftp: flash:" command instead of the "archive" command. You will also need to update the boot variable with the location of the new image. Please read that section and post if you have any issues.
