Hello, and thanks in advance for reading this.
I have a 3825 router that is deemed EOL. The recently upgraded the IOS to "c3825-advipservicesk9-mz.151-4.M9.bin".
We have new routers that run the "new style" of running ospfv3...(ex: "show ospfv3" "router ospfv3 #")...more importantly than "style", is the fact that these routers utilize "ospfv3 multi-address family support" extensively.
To save my company a few bucks, I want to make this EOL 3825 router compatible with these new routers. However, the commands necessary to run OSPFv3 address-family support are not in this current IOS.
My questions...
1) I have done some research on the topic and it states that since "Cisco IOS Software Release 15.1(3)S", multi-address family has been supported. Wouldn't my current IOS (151-4.M9.bin) be "newer" than this? Or is my knowledge of IOS releases needing to be refreshed, heh.
2) Would downloading the latest version of IOS (c3825-advipservicesk9-mz.151-4.M10.bin) on Cisco Support provide my old 3825 "ospfv3 multi-address support"?
Thanks again.
Al

Hi Al,
1) 15.1(3)S is a different release train from 15.1(4)M so it won't necessarily support the same features.
It looks like the 3825 router doesn't have an S train image available and if the feature isn't included in M&T trains you might be out of luck.

2) No, going from M9 to M10 is just a bugfix release and won't give you any new features.
