Cisco 3900 Series Router - Password Recovery

Enable password is now unknown. I am thinking the running-config was modified incorrectly when adding acs configuration. I have never done a password recovery before. What is the estimated downtime? is the first option listed the best?

Recommended precautions etc?

Password recovery will take, approximately 15 minutes and you need to have physical access to the router (to remove the CF).

I see that there are two different procedures for password recovery. Do both procedures need to be done or only one? One does not require any removal of CF? Can these steps be performed over a console serial connection?

There is only one way to perform a password recovery. And you'll need physical access to the appliance in question.

To add to Leo Laohoo's comments, you only need to do one of the two procedures, I've always done the first one. You must be connected to the console port of the router to perform the procedure.

I have a laptop connected to the serial port on the router and I have a team viewer session running. Will this suffice to do this remote?
