Hi all,
probably I discovered a multicast related bug in CISCO routers 891F and 892FSP.
The configuration is very straightforward:
Router A: GE-WAN: 10.0.10.1/24
VLAN1(associated to all the ports of the LAN switch): 192.168.201.1/24
Router B: GE-WAN: 10.0.10.2/24
VLAN1(associated to all the ports of the LAN switch): 192.168.202.1/24
On both routers I configured IP ROUTE in order to have routing from Router A Vlan1 to Router B Vlan1 and vice-versa.
On both routers I configured multicast with the command IP MULTICAST-ROUTING
On both router I configured PIM protocol in SPARSE mode (IP PIM RP-ADDRESS 10.0.10.1 in global configuration and IP PIM SPARSE-MODE on both VLAN1 and GE-WAN).
Host A (192.168.201.10/24) is attached on VLAN1(A). Host A is the MULTICAST SENDER
Host B (192.168.202.10/24) is attached on VLAN1(B). Host B is the MULTICAST RECEIVER
If Router A is a CISCO 891F or a CISCO 892FSP, Multicast traffic does not pass from Host A to Host B.
If Router A is a CISCO 892 or a CISCO 881, Multicast traffic pass from Host A to Host B.
I spent lot of weeks in troubleshooting this issue, also with the help of a CISCO CCIE certified. Our ideas is that there is a bug.
Do you have any ideas?
I tried to call a cisco expert but as I does not have a Service Contract it is impossible to be helped from CISCO :-(
