hi,
i'm trying to troubleshooting an ISP circuit in ASR1K and trying to push back the issue to the ISP.
can someone advise if it's possible to perform loopback test in a GE port? i've done this in serial E1 link where you can configure a loopback towards the provider.
what is the function of the 'loopback mac' command under GE interface. is it the same as doing a hard loop towards the provider?
ASR1K(config-if)#loopback ?
mac Loopback towards system at the MAC controller level
ASR1K(config-if)#loopback mac ?

Hello @johnlloyd_13 ,
loopback MAC should loop towards the router interface controller not in the direction of the provider
>> mac Loopback towards system at the MAC controller level
see the attached document the command provides a local loopback towards the router and allows to verify your side.
The document provides also a suggestion to use two different VRFs to test SFPs and cables on a single router box
Hope to help
Giuseppe
