Cisco Router 1760 Can't Detect New Card Fast Ethernet WIC-4ESW

Dear Pro,

I buy new brand 4 port FE Card (WIC-4ESW)and instaled it on my router, after i check with show interface, there's no new interface, FYI my router running IOS 1700 ver. 12.2(13)T4, what should i do?.

Haris,

I think its the IOS, but before that lets verify a few things.

a. Paste a sh version output in next post.

b. Be aware that only slot 0 and 1 are wic/vic slots. 2 and 3 are vic only slots. So make sure you didnt insert this wic into 2 or 3.

c. Software advisor shows 12.3 as min. version on IP only feature set. (12.3.13b). Try downloading 12.3.16 and see if that helps. Required flash and ram are 32 Mb dram and 8 mb flash.

d. Also check this link for supported software versions on 1760.

and how i can download ios from Cisco if i didn't have service contrat or certificate?

Hello Haris,

The WIC-4ESW port is supported from the 12.3(2) XC IOS or 12.4T with IOS IP or IP BASE feature sets...

From your show version output, I can see that your router has a FXO card as well.... The IOS which will suit both these cards are as below:

c1700-ipbase-mz.123-2.XC2

c1700-ipbase-mz.123-14.T4

c1700-ipbase-mz.123-16

All these IOS requires a min of 16 MB flash and 64 MB DRAM, which is already present in your router...

You can contact your Cisco partner who sold this and they will download it for you.

I had a similar problem.

c1700-entservicesk9-mz.123-17 and c1700-k9o3sv8y7-mz.123-16 didn't support it but c1700-ipvoicek9-mz.124-3b did.
