Configure serial interface

Dear all,

I was going to replace a cisco 1721 router with a cisco 1841 router. I made a backup of running configuration on 1721 and use a console terminal to made that copy the running config of the cisco 1841. The router have 1 fastethernet card and a serial card. Fastethernet is 10.1.5.x  with subnet /24 and serial of 10.1.252.y (same subnet). But in the running config backup I see something like interface serial0/0 and the serial address, but when I configured it I have to run interface serial 0/0/0 in config-ip mode.

When I restart or power cycle the router it keeps showing %Errorfile%: tftp server: www.cisco.net etc..... If a check the running and startup configuration, they still have the new config settings. Please let me know if something went wrong and where.I hope you can enlighten me.

Thank you,

Vincent

The symptoms that you describe suggest that something in the config is generating requests for something at Cisco.com. Can you provide the config of the router, which might allow us to identify what is causing this? If that is a problem then perhaps you can post these things:

show run | inc boot

show run | inc cisco
