Configuring WIC-1T, HWIC-1T in the CISCO2801, 2811

Soon Kwan Kwon

Hello everyone.

I have 2 issues.

One is about WIC-1T

Another is about HWIC-1T

The point I make a question is about "supporting"

[ WIC-1T ]

I searched WIC-1T datasheet ( http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/interfaces-modules/1700-2600-3600-3700-1-port-serial-wan-interface-card/7265-hw-1t-wic.html )

But there isn't indicated that CISCO2801 does support WIC-1T.

Is it right?..

I have a experience that I connected it to CISCO2801, 2811...

[ HWIC-1T ]

I have 2 HWIC-1T modules.

When I connect it CISCO2801 and 2811, the LED on the router does not shine and no response...

Seeing the datasheet, you can obviously see It is supporting it. ( http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/interfaces-modules/high-speed-wan-interface-cards/datasheet_c78-491363.html )

Maybe I think HWIC-1T I have is broken down..?

(But 1941 Router recognize HWIC-1T - I'll prove through "show inventory" command)

Thank you for reading.

Regards,

Hi,

The 2800 series routers do NOT support WIC-1T it needs to be an HWIC-1T.

See this table
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/routers/2800-series-integrated-services-routers-isr/relevant-interfaces-and-modules.html#serialwan

Regarding the 2800s not seeing the card:-

Make sure you meet the minimum IOS & feature levels

IOS Release, Feature Sets, Licenses and Platform Support

Table 2. Minimum IOS Releases, Feature Sets and Licenses

Platforms

Minimum Cisco IOS Sotware Release

Minimum Cisco IOS Sotware Feature Set or License

Cisco 1800, 2800, and 3800 Series Integrated Services Routers

• 12.4(20T
• 12.4(23)
• 12.4(15)T

IP Base

Cisco 1900, 2900, and 3900 Series Integrated Services Routers

• 15.0(1)M

IP Base

Make sure you power down the router, install the card the re-power the router.

2800s do NOT support OIR (Hot card installation)

According to http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/routers/2800-series-integrated-services-routers-isr/relevant-interfaces-and-modules.html#end, the WIC-1T is an End-of-Sales (EOS) module that is supported on the 2800 Series Integrated Services Routers.

Below shows a Cisco 2811 router running Cisco IOS 15.1(4)M10 is able to recognize a WIC-1T installed on it.

Thanks. :-)
