DESIGN OSPF

Not applicable

Hello

I have six routers in full mesh and I have another six routers in Ring topology. OSPF runs on this routers.

What advantages and disadvantages do each design have?  Where can I find this information?

Thank you

Hi

Full mesh is better topology than Ring, you will have full high  availability (redundancy), reliability, security, etc  but it is very expensive and a misunderstanding of the network could create loops or problems into the network.

Ring topology is easy to implement but i could have size restriction, if a device fails it could affect the entire topology or traffic computation, the traffic usually follow a same direction.

My personal suggestion is use partial mesh topology.

ОК,

But what do you think about work of OSPF protocol. Which topology more applicable for OSPF and why?

Hi Sergey,

OSPF can be used on both topologies, of course Ring will not so complex than full mesh.

In my personal opinion I select Full mesh, but you need to deploy a good OSPF implementation.
