dhcp with radius

hello

suppose i have a local router.

i want to make it as a dhcp server.

however, i don't want to use a local dhcp pool in the router.

i hope if the router will relay the dhcp request to a radius server!!! this later will autenticate the user then give him the ip address.

is this possible?

this is similar to 802.1x but in this way the dhcp client will not need a 802.1x client.

any comment

why not just use the radius server to dispense the IP addresses either from a defined pool or statically? We presently do this using freeradius v1.123 for ppp connections such as dialup, dsl, and wireless. DHCP server never comes into play.
