DNS in Switch (SG350) Forwarding, Server?

Hello, I am confused about DNS in switch SG350 (my first and only manage switch though). It has option to enable DNS, Polling Retries, DNS Server Table preferences, etc. Those options mean that, I can forward multiple or single DNS servers, so I can just set my PC DNS server to the switch IP, right? I tried but, it didn't work.

I have a router (192.168.1.1) that is handling and collecting DNS from other public DNS servers. DNS works if I set the router as DNS server even from PC in different VLAN subnets (192.168.2.0). But, I think, it is better for those PCs to have the switch interface as DNS server.

Is the DNS option in SG350 is not for that purpose? I tried to search on the net, but mostly about Cisco routers. Not many information about this. Thank you.

 - In general I advice to not use switches for DNS services, as it can lead to a dead-lock for a client needing network services, use dedicated hosts for dns-services.

--- I see, so not in switches, not in router, but a dedicated host. Could you give me additional information about dead-lock and why DNS in switch may lead to it?

I am thinking to make a DDWRT router into a dedicated DNS server, would that be okay?

I am new to networking, so even basic information I would eager and appreciate to learn.

Thank you.
