I have a sonic firewall that I want to be able to connect to via a vpn over the internet. The isp has provided us with an E1 line into the premises. With a 1721 router with an E1 wic I need to convert the E1 to ethernet while leaving the public address on the sonic wall for vpn purposes.
The ISP has likely given you a LAN IP address and a netmask. You configure one address on the router and one on the firewall, set default route to serial, and that's it.
