Hello all!
I have an EIGRP Load Balancing challenge!!
I've recently deplyed a second NX7K chassis to provide redundency in our network. Everything went all except for one minor EIGRP Load Balancing issue that I am facing.
Here's the setup:
VSS_6509_Pair
- Po2101 L2 (2x10G interfaces) connected to NX7K1
- Po2102 L2 (2x10G interfaces) connected to NX7K2
- VLAN 682 --- SVI: VLAN682 10.26.60.17/30 to pair EIGRP with NX7K1
- VLAN 683 --- SVI: VLAN683 10.26.60.81/30 to pair EIGRP with NX7K2
NX7K1
- Po2101 L2 (2x10G interfaces) connected to VSS_6509_Pair
- Po3 L3 (1x10G inteface) connected to NX7K2
- VLAN 682 --- SVI: VLAN682 10.26.60.18/30 to pair EIGRP with VSS_6509_Pair
- VLAN 1682 --- SVI: VLAN1682 10.26.60.100/30 to pair EIGRP with NX7K2
NX7K2
- Po3 L3 (1x10G inteface) connected to NX7K1
- Po2102 L2 (2x10G interfaces) connected to VSS_6509_Pair
- VLAN 683 --- SVI: VLAN683 10.26.60.82/30 to pair EIGRP with NX7K2
- VLAN 1682 --- SVI: VLAN1682 10.26.60.101/30 to pair EIGRP with NX7K1
- EIGRP is running on all three swtiches as the routing protocol
The problem I am facing is that the path selected from NX7K2 to one of the subnets/network on VSS_6509_Pair is through the single 10GB(L3) which takes two hops rather than the L2(2x10G) direct connection to the VSS_6509_Pair.
I don't understand why the NX7K2 would prefer the route through the single 10G(L3) rather than the direct dual 2x10G L2 links to the VSS_6509_Pair!!
Thanks in advance.
~zK

Hi,
Is this only happening on NX7K2?
Does NX7K1 forwards traffic directly to VSS?
How about from VSS to both Nexus?

Hi
Could you give the output of sh ip route for this subnet and the sh ip eigrp topology for thia subnet?
And also a sh ip eigrp interface detail on all peering interfaces
Thanks
