EIGRP load sharing clarification

Hi,

If 2 seperate router's connected over P2P link towards wan both making use of EIGRP routing protocol and both having same bandwidth and delay metrics, will the traffic comming from Lan load share between both the router's ???

Both the router's are able to share their routing topology entries via Lan as the core switches behind the router's are directly connected to each other.

If there is an issue in one of the P2P link assume Primary router , and if I would like to stop the load sharing from happening between them then if I increase the delay value on Primary router will the traffic get diverted completely onto the second router .

Please advise.

James..

Depends on the connectivity between core switches and routers.

If each router is connected to each core switch with L3 links and each router receives routes from the WAN with the same metrics then yes the core switches would use both routers.

And yes you could influence the path a number of ways ie. you could increase delay bearing in mind you would do it on the router interface connecting to the WAN or the core switch interface connecting to the router.

Or you could use offset lists either on the routers or the core switches.

If the connectivity between core switches and routers is not as I described please clarify.
