EPVN and L2VPN questions

Hi Guys

I have a few questions about EVPN etc.

1.Do most providers now use EVPN instead of EoMPLS?

2.When tagging vlans across the WAN using EoMPLS and creating psuedowires etc, what happens if customer A uses the same vlan as customer B on the same PE? how do you keep these separate?

Cheers

Hello @carl_townshend

Yes, EVPN has become increasingly popular among service providers as an alternative to EoMPLS. EVPN offers more flexibility and scalability compared to EoMPLS, making it easier to support new services and meet changing customer requirements.

If two customers use the same VLAN ID on the same PE, there is a risk of traffic mixing between the two customers. To avoid this, service providers can use a technique called VLAN translation or VLAN mapping. This involves mapping the customer VLAN to a different VLAN ID before sending it across the WAN. This way, even if two customers are using the same VLAN ID, they will be mapped to different VLAN IDs on the provider network, preventing traffic mixing.

Best regards
