Please help me with this error, we are working on upgrading the IOS on a switch and this is the error that im seeing
ABCD#format slavesup-bootdisk:
Format operation may take a while. Continue? [confirm]y
Format operation will destroy all data in "slavesup-bootdisk:". Continue? [confirm]y
%Error formatting slavesup-bootdisk: (Error Sending Request)
What exactly does this mean?

There is no need to format the flash is you are swapping out the sup module. If you just want to delete the config, you can do that by issuing "write erase"
If you are using an external flash, you can use the same one from the old sup.
Not sure exactly what you are trying to do.

What type of switches are these?
Are they configured as VSS?

This is a BUR WS-C6509-E - running a WS-SUP720-3B
not sure if these are configured as VSS...sry im new to this environment !

our engineer is swapping out the sup mod
is there anything else we need to do other than format?

You have dual sups, correct?
Are you sure both have bootdisks? (NB: earlier sup720s, had smaller flash capacity, and it was a bootflash device, not bootdisk.)
