Error when upgrading Cisco ASR920 from XE 16.9.3 to XE 16.9.7

Hello all

I have a number of Cisco ASR920 Routers (ASR-920-12CZ-D) that need upgrading from XE 16.9.3 to XE 16.9.7 (16.9.7 is the customer request) I have downloaded the .BIN file from Cisco and followed the below process:

Router#copy usb0:asr920-universalk9_npe.16.09.07.SPA.bin bootflash:

Router# conf t

Router (config)# no boot system

Router (config)# boot system bootflash:asr920-universalk9_npe.16.09.07.SPA.bin

Router (config)# end

Router# write

Router# reload

However upon reloading it detects and error with the XE 16.9.7 file and proceeds to boot with the XE 16.9.3 file

Can you advise what could be wrong please? I'm only upgrading from a couple of sub-versions!

Do the following:

conf t
 NO boot system bootflash:asr920-universalk9_npe.16.09.07.SPA.bin
 boot system flash bootflash:asr920-universalk9_npe.16.09.07.SPA.bin
end

I think he is face mismatch between the ROMMON ver. and IOS XE ver.

For now, I am going with the incorrect boot variable statement because that is the only useable information provided.

And I doubt it is the ROMMON version mismatch since the router is upgrading from 16.9.3 to 16.9.7.  Both old and new firmware version are from the same train.

Thanks
