Fiber connection

Hi,

I want to have a fiber connection from my router to the right hand switch (multilayer switch 0).

I can't connect this cable type to either device as it sates 'can't connect via this port'.

Can anyone help with this issue please? I've attached my pkt file for reference.

Thanks in advance

Hello itsgrwd,

in real world not all devices can support a fiber connection.

The router needs to be able to support appropriate optics SFP and in some cases for router ports that have both an RJ45 port and SFP slot you need to use the media-type command in interface mode to specify if you want to use the RJ45 port or the SFP.

From the point of view of emulation there is nothing special in a fiber link.

The emulator may know that your router with current equipment and configuration (see above note about media-type ) is not able to support the fiber link and rejects your configuration.

In real world the other things to know are:

the TX single fiber of side A has to be connected on RX on Side B and viceversa.

You may need to use no shut in order to switch on the laser on the SFP.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
