GRE tunnel issue

Hi, Guy,

Two ISP links are using 20M bandwidth: no packet loss tested in these ISP links.

Two GRE tunnels are built in two separated Layer 3 devices/Firewalls, it is weird that when traffic is switched over from one tunnel to another tunnel; bandwidth utilization is quite different. The first tunnel was using 20M bandwidth, but now traffic is using only 10M bandwidth; any hint to troubleshoot the tunnel issue ?

Hello Bensonlei,

you should provide additional info in order to get better help:

what are the devices involved ?  Model and SW version

You speak of GRE tunnels, however are those GRE Tunnels protected by IPSec?

Are the GRE endpoints the same as IPSec endpoints or different ?

What kind of traffic is carried over GRE (eventually also over IPSec) is TCP based?

In this case the end to end delay on the two ISPs play a key role.

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Hi Giuseppe,

Thx so much for your reply,

They are simple GRE tunnel, no IPsec...

We shall test the results again, for the verification of GRE configurations
