Hi all,
I've just made a purchase for a Cisco 2960 8 port switch ( Exact model: WS-C2960PD-8TT-L ), I reckon this is what I need to set up my network, so far I've gone through the Express Set-up and configured it through there with no problems. I've set up the hardware in the following manner:
-Internet Modem
>Port 8 on Switch
->Port 1 on Switch goes to 1252 Cisco AP
->Port 2 on Switch goes to Linksys VOIP home Router
I let it start up and can connect to the internet through the AP, and through the router. (I'm posting through the AP-Switch set-up right now.) However, once I connect to the AP with a second client. It refuses to let the second client connect/not give an internet connection, as it would a direct connection to the modem.
I'm going to assume this is due to NAT not being configured through the command line on the switch yet. I'll look into that, any advice on the set-up/suggestions are highly welcomed. Thanks in advance!

Hi,
2960 is a L2 switch so it doesn't support NATas far as i know.
Your modem is a router-modem I suppose so NAT is done there otherwise you couldn't go to the internet with a private ip.
Can you sniff network card on your client not connecting in promiscuous mode and post .cap file here.
Regards.

I was told by Scott that the Cisco Catalyst 2960 Switch does support NAT Switching. (See discussion.) When I connect the AP though my Linksys VoIP Router (Which has embedded NAT) all clients work fine, it is only when connected through a non-NAT configured switch or directly into the Modem that it doesn't work. I should mention my Modem is a simple Toshiba personal modem issued by Brighthouse Networks, I highly doubt it has any form of NAT switching. Thanks for the response, looking forward to a solution.

Unfortunately you were given incorrect information. The only Catalyst switch that supports NAT is the 6500 switch. 29xx/35xx/45xx switches will not support NAT.
Most (if not all) routers do support NAT.

I see, thanks for the clarification, I can easily can easily return the switch. You say most routers support NAT, can you elaborate? Are there any routers you can suggest? I don't need anything that offers wireless access, as I want to use the 1252 AP for that purpose. What I need is a router/switch that can support NAT so I can have my 1252 support multiple clients are a time. If you can suggest anything of the sort, it would be highly appreciated. Also, if you can, try to keep it to a simple (cheapish) device, this is only going to a VoIP Linksys Router and the AP itself. Thank you in advance.
