Help Me With Basic Understanding of WICs and T1

Hello,

So I am tasked with a simple project: get a remote site talking to our main site. It is point to point T1. The provider said it will be on "fiber but handed back as copper", whatever that means. I don't believe it is ethernet. I have a Cat 5 cable that runs back to the server room from the DMARC and that is supposedly my handoff.

See the attached image for a basic network diagram.

I am a little confused about the WICs.

Router 1 (2801) has the following: WIC 1 DSU-T1 V2

VWIC 2MFT-T1 (two of those WICs)

Router 2 (2600) has the following: WIC 1DSU T1

VWIC 1MFT-T1

Correct if I am wrong, but I will only be using the T1 DSU/CSU port.

Also, does anyone have a basic guideline for what needs to be configured to get the two routers talking? Do I need to worry about the other WICs with the CTRLR ports? Is clocking configure on the T1 DSU/CSU port?

Any links or hints or info will be greatly appreciated.

You can use either type of cards. I think you will have to configure internal clock one side.

Other than that, there is plenty of documents and threads on how to configure a T1 for data.

Your copper handoff will be RJ-48.

There are links on the page listed that will take you into other module spec sheets.
