Hi guys i jaave a cisco 892 isr i have been using it for a number of years on nbn (fibre) here in australia, i have recently moved house and had a new fibre connection setup but i have been lead to believe i could continue using my cisco router but thisis not the case, as all new nbn connection are now tagged services for QOS to differenciate tc and tc4 for voice and web browsing.

What i want to know is if it is possible to make this change it apparenly is vlan 100 but i cannot assign vlan 100 to my wan port i jave tried to set this up using ge6 as my wan but i still cannot get it to work :( any help on this one is much appreciated as i dont want to use another router.

Thanks

Kev

are they tagging the vlan ?  the fact that you mention Qos tags leads me to believe that they mean they use DSCP to distingiush between different types of traffic and that is where the tagging comes in

could be completely wrong mind you, have they told you a vlan to expect ?

they say a tagged service but i think you are on the right track please see the link below that talks about how to do it on other routers :) the vlan is 100 too

http://www.draytek.com.au/support/mfaqs/how-to-connect-a-draytek-vigor2925-router-to-dodo-nbn/

would i be able to assign DSCP on the wan port or would i do this on my dialer1 part of my config ?

also from doing a little more digging it is "802.1Q VLAN tagged onVLAN 100" apparently all nbn services will be like this and they are not going to change it back

strange for a home connection to have a tagged circuit,   what ever device you are using for the internet connection  will need to be tagged with vlan 100.

the DSCP doesnt have to be adjusted, it depends on the bandwidth of your service,  if you have limited bandwidth then you can adjust the DSCP values but will need to check with your provider if they will accept these otherwise they may just reset them as they go into their network

They are doing this on all new connections over here now :( i have a 892 router its setup the same way as if it was an adsl connection with a dialer config. I tried to tag ge8 wan port with vlan 100 but it would not work so i tried using ge6 lan port as a wan port but it got a little to complex for me :( ill post my config tomorrow if you could check it for me i would be muchly appreciated :)

Also the connection is 100/40
