How do i confirm the authenticity of a cisco switch

I woul like to know how to confirm the authenticity of a Cisco Switch using its serial number.

Hi Jude,

one of the ways is to contact TAC and to provide them the serial number you will find after issueing the show version command. With minimum access level you can open a case and they will come back to you with the answer you want. Just curious now... Why do you have this doubt?

MAC address checking would also help but Alessio way is the best
