How many WAN ports does a C1161X really have?

How many WAN ports does a C1161X really have?

I want to buy a new 1161X router and the datasheet mentions 1 and an SFP port, but the image and a friend's equipment show that there are 2 RJ45 WAN ports and one SFP/RJ45, or "combo", so I can deduce  there really are 3 three wan ports, right?

2 WAN Ports  - One  you can use RJ45 and 1 port dual function you can use RF45 or SFP.

The C1161X-8PLTEP platform has eight Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, one Gigabit Ethernet WAN port, one Gigabit Ethernet WAN/SFP port

Also the picture suggests only two ports however you have the device in front of you ...

Do you have 3 RJ45 and one SFP slot in the WAN section ?

Hope to help

Giuseppe

But the FAQ say

Q.  What is the naming convention for the ISR 1000 Series Product IDs?
A.  1. Prefix
“C” = Standard Product ID (PID) prefix
2. Product number
The second portion of Product ID after the hyphen identifies the number of LAN ports:

●      “1161” = Two GE WAN interfaces

Products - Cisco 1000 Series Integrated Services Routers FAQ - Cisco

and there are literally two WAN ports Gig and then an additional SFP/RJ45 port

you need to read other FAQ also in the document to get more accurate answer

always refer the product document :

Hello @wladmirmendozandc ,

as in other router platform you probably can choice between RJ45 and SFP for one port using the interface command

media-type rj45|sfp

You have two WAN ports one that is RJ45 only and one that is dual mode.

Hope to help

Hello

It is an honor to receive a response from you

We just tested the C1161X model with 8 GB of RAM with a friend and we did not agree with what the datasheet says....

The C1161X has two WAN ports rj45 only and additionally they have an rj45/sfp (or combo) WAN port. We apply the command you refer to (media-type rj45|sfp) and it works perfectly for us.

In summary, 1161X has 3 WAN (2ports RJ45/ 1ports (combo) ) ports but this information does not match to me what the documentation says... or maybe I did not read it correctly

For me this agrees with what the FAQ says but not with what the Datasheet says

Hi @Giuseppe Larosa
Hi @balaji.bandi

Very Veery sorry both, I had a lot of confusion, as you have told me there are two WAN ports (0/0/0 and 0/0/1), if I am going to use the SFP port, that port would override the WAN port, specifically 0 /0/0

Thank you very much and sorry for the inconvenience and Thank you both for your patience.
