How to configure route maps and distribution lists

Hi to all

iam preparing for CCNP route test and While studying EIGRP. i found a topic knows as distribution list.

to me it is very confusing in book. could somebosy please explain this to me with a simple example.

how it works and what is the benefit of this in the EIGRP network

Distribution lists are used to specify what you're willing to advertise or receive. Suppose you were learning a 192.168.1.0/24 route on fa0/0, but you didn't want to advertise this route to any other neighbor. You could create a distribution list and apply it outbound denying the advertisement of that route out. Same rule applies inbound. You can deny a route from being received, or permit certain routes, by creating a distribution list and applying it inbound.
