How to know router and ASA work properly

Dear All Expert,

I would like to ask you some question that How can know router and ASA work properly ( i mean i want to maintenance on my router and ASA but i don't now which command for show it )

Please help me to solve this problem

Hi,

The best way to do it is to have monitoring system in place.

Here are some recommendations

- ICMP monitoring and SNMP-TRAP Receiver. i.e. WhatsUp

- CPU, MEM, Interface utilization monitoring. i.e. CRICKET or MRTG

- KIWI Syslog

You can setup one server or workstation loaded with the above tools.

- You can configure the router and ASA to send SNMP-TRAP to WhatsUp and WhatsUp will in-turn send this via email to you

- You can congiure the router and ASA to send log to KIWI Syslog and you can either look at it daily or setup another applciation to send the log entry of importance to you via email

- You can even congiure WhatsUp to send up/down status to you via email or text.
