How to measure the convergence time for switch

Hi

I use 3 switches to create a topology of PVST+. However, I want to measure the convergence time for the topology if I block a link, I don't know which command or what kind of method I can use.  Use clock to calculate the time by hand or by something else.

If someone did this before or know the method, really thanks to tell me that.

Also which command for configure the default gateway for this :

Port                    Assignments        Network

S1 F0/6             VLAN 30                172.17.30.0/24

#interface vlan  30

ip default-gateway 172.17.30.0/24  or 172.17.30.0 255.255.255.0

Am I right or I lose some commands or I should use other command for this.

 Thanks a lot

The practical way to measure the convergence time is by performing continous ping to a public DNS server from inside network and unplugged  or shut the active port in the STP primary switch. you would see how many Ping packet has been dropped before failover happened.

I did this while practicing for switch technologies.
