Hi All

What is the method in which most websites and providers direct you to their nearest server or datacentre on the internet, is it using DNS or BGP ?

how is this achieved?

I have done this in the past with Cisco's legacy products of GSS (Global Site Selector) and ACE. Since those products are EoL/EoS you can look at some other vendor such as F5 and its ATM/GTM products.
