How to upgrade IOS xe with a single RP - asr 1001x

I have an ASR 1001x and would like to upgrade the IOS xe to bootflash:asr1001x-universalk9.16.04.01.SPA.bin.

Since this is a single RP, ISSU is not an option.

Do I delete the old IOS and reload once the new IOS is loaded to the bootflash: ?

Old version running on the unit is asr1001x-universal.03.16.02.S.155-3.S2-ext.SPA.bin

Hi,

Please follow up following steps

1. Paste your new IOS file in flash memory

2. Verify MD5 Hash value of IOS file. If it is ok then

3. Create new boot loader entry with new ios file

4. Verify your boot loader entry in running config, delete old boot loader entry.

5. Reboot router and verify ios version.

6. Test all function and delete an old ios file from the router.

Thank you, I just noticed this, are these two IOS the same, meaning it will work?

asr1001x-universal.03.16.02.S.155-3.S2-ext.SPA.bin (old)

asr1001x-universalk9.16.04.01.SPA.bin.(new)
