Hi, there.

I'm Alex. I have a question about router's crashinfo.

Out client's router(cisco 3640) is frequently rebooted by crash lately but crashinfo file isn't in flash. When I enter show version, the following is seen.

show version

----------------------------------------

System returned to ROM by error - a Software forced crash, PC 0x6039B504 at 15:23:35 KR Tue May 24 2005

System restarted at 15:25:34 KR Tue May 24 2005

System image file is "flash:c3640-js-mz.122-17a.bin"

and when I enter show stack

show stack

-----------------------------------------

System was restarted by error - a Software forced crash, PC 0x6039B504 at 15:23:35 KR Tue May 24 2005

3600 Software (C3640-JS-M), Version 12.2(17a), RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

Like the above, any crashinfo files isn't in flash.

Available space in flash is sufficient.

What should I do?

Let me know about the above.

Hello,

AFAIK, the crashinfo is written to bootflash by default, can you do a ´dir bootflash:´ and check if the crashinfo files might be in there and if the bootflash might be full ?

Hi Alex,

If you aer not able to get any crash info file in flash after issuing the command, I would suggest you to load a new IOS on the router as the console message says its a software crash.

I would suggest you to go with a newer release IOS may be 12.3

Sushil
