How can I tell if my 2621 routers are the xm model will it simply identify them as xm when I do a sh ver

On the back side, you should see it painted as Cisco 26XX XM. Also a sh version should show it.

If you do a show ver and the processor is an mpc860P instead of an mpc860 we are talking XM series routers .
"Cisco 2621XM (MPC860P) processor (revision 0x100) with 127308K/3764K bytes of memory."
