We have some Cisco Catalysts 9300 Switches installed in a production network for our client. They are functioning as Access Layer Switches. We just received communication from the client about the following errors appearing on three ports on the same switch. No other errors have been reported on any other switch.

Gig1/0/2 has 295 OutDiscards per day.

Gig1/0/17 has 775 Xmit-Err, 455 Single-Col, and 105 Late-Col per day.

Gig1/0/34 has 3 FCS-Err and 12984 Rcv-Err per day.

The SFPs connected to each port are:

Gig1/0/2  - 1000BASE-T SFP  Cisco Compatible, Axiom GLC-TE-AX.

Gig1/0/17  - 100BASE-FX SFP - LC (MMF), Cisco GLC-GE-100FX.

Gig1/0/34  - 1000BASE-LX SFP - LC Cisco Compatible (SMF), Axiom GLC-LH-SMD-AX.

Gig1/0/34 connects to a MOXA Switch, Gig1/0/17 connects to a Mercury LP2500 MUX, and Gig1/0/2 connects to a network jack.

Hello @dsphudson12954

As concerned Gig1/0/17 it is likely due to a duplex mismatch or faulty cabling. So, verify duplex settings on both the switch and the Mercury MUX, inspect cabling, and test with a replacement SFP if needed...

For int Gig1/0/2 (OutDiscards) it should be caused by congestion or QoS settings. Check traffic load, QoS policies, and replace the third-party Axiom SFP with a Cisco GLC-TE to rule out compatibility issues.

Best regards

How do I remove these interface errors? What would cause these interface errors?

Hello
Check your cabling and/or try a new port/sfp .
