Interface statistics

Please could someone tell me the out output from a show interface can you determine how old the statistics are and how i can gwet them from a certain time period

You can't really tell that from the output. What you can do is to clear the current counters using 'clear counters' for the appropriate interface and they start counting up again.

Hi,

You can determine how old the statistics are in a "show interface" by looking at the timestamp noted in the "Last clearing of "show interface" counters " portion of the output.

As far as getting these stats for a certain period, you'd have to do a "clear counters interface x/y" and then check the counters after the desired time interval.

If you are wanting them from a historical time period, there's no way to get this from the CLI. You would have to use an external NMS application such as MTRG or CiscoWorks to get that data.
