Hi,
What could be the reason for the following Symptom.
Interface Status:- Down.
Interface Line protocol:- UP
Has anyone experienced such type of problem? If yes please share.
Thanks:

Hi there,
I'm afraid that this is impossible!
You can have Down/Down, Up/Down and Up/Up
These are at different layers of the OSI model and the protocol could never be up if there was nothing plugged in the interface.
Hope that clarifies,
LH

Hi,
I beleive that i've seen this once before, in STUN networks:
"keepalives in STUN flow between the TCP peers to ensure that the peer connection is up. You can tune the keepalives if your peers are going down/up because of keepalive loss"

HTH, please rate if it does help,

Guys i rekon u have to see the basic thing........and for that u have to go back to CCNA level where OSI model explains everything......your serial interface is at
physical layer (1st) and your line protocol is datalink layer (Layer 2)......so if the physical is down your datalink will be always down........cuz its dependent on your physical link......regards....plz rate all posts
