We'll be adding a DS-3 connection soon with a "standard" service charge for 10mg, but with the capacity to climb above that for an additional charge. The service provider is installing a router, so the service will be handed to us on Ethernet. I'm trying to explore options to limit traffic flow to prevent overuse and overage charges, hopefully without having to purchase new equipment. I have on hand 3550 smi switches, some 2621 routers, and perhaps could find a 3550 emi if necessary. I've considered layer 2 management of traffic using traffic policing, but that would be a rather messy aproach. Any other thoughts on what I could do with what we have?
