Internet Link Bandwidth Sharing

I have Cisco 2800 router. Its f0/0 will be for the MPLS Internet connection with bandwidth of 10Mbps. Its f0/1 will be connected to a switch for internal networks and f0/2 will be connected to a branch office. I'm wondering if there is a way to share 5Mbps for each branch?

I also have one internet backup link in another vendor. When my primary link is down then automatic secondary link will up.

A sample config is greatly appreciated!

Regards,
Biplab

Hi Biplab,

You can used a QoS policy to police the traffic to 5M from each branch.

Much depends on how you want to "share".

The 2800 supports policing on ingress or egress traffic, and shaping and bandwidth proportions on egress traffic.

It would be easy to provide each branch 50% of your egress bandwidth, but although you can police ingress traffic, "managing" ingress traffic doesn't work nearly as well as "managing" egress traffic.  Ingress traffic "management" is best done with a traffic management appliance.

If your FE hand-off running at 10 or 100?  (If running at 100, you'll probably what to shape.)

What version of IOS are you running?  (QoS features change with IOS versions.)
