IOS services - How do I find out what an IOS can do vs another?

We have a current IOS on an 861, running C850 Software (C850-ADVSECURITYK9-M), Version 12.4(4)T7, RELEASE SOFTWARE and we want to have a backup which is a 1700 Series.

It is running -  C1700 Software (C1700-NO3SV3Y7-M), Version 12.2(15)T9,  RELEASE SOFTWARE

I have been through Cisco site, trying to locate what IOS has what features i.e. the 861 has a Vlan configured on it but as I try to build it on the 1700, the commands not recognized.

Any suggestions would greatly appreciated.

you can use this tool to compare features on IOS:

but if you need to check if a partucilar command if it is supported on yor IOS you can do a direct search on the Cisco website using the syntax of the command...hth
