Hi,

I have a issue is two router 2800 series and 2900 series, and the 2900 series router IOS do not support RTP compression.

The moment the 2800 series router enable with RTP compression, both router unable to ping each other.

I had simulate using a 2800 and 2600 router, with 2600 router configure with RTP compression but 2800 router do not have RTP compression.

Although the compression not working but I still can ping each other.

Is there any different behaviour on 2900 series router as I can't find any bugs related to rtp compression.

Generally speaking when you have compression enabled on only one end of the link, the other end doesn't know to decompress that packet so you won't be able to communicate. The behavior between the 2800 and 2900 is expected, but I can't explain why the 2800 and 2600 can still communicate. Are you doing compression via interface configuration or policy map?

I am doing compression on interface configuration.

I am not too sure enable RTP header compression is only compressing the real time traffic such as voice and video streaming or it just compress whatever traffic that is going through.
