I have a 3745 router running (C3745-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.3(22). I'm trying to set up a ping based IP SLA monitor to track a private tunnel we have between 2 sites.
When I go to try and configure it, ip sla... is not an option for me on this model/IOS. What other options do I have?
In a nut shell we have 2 routers at each site, one with the primary carrier circuit, the other with the backup circuit, with only static routes, no BGP, etc. If the physical interface of the circuit goes down on my end, no issues, the routes are tracked and the backup takes over. However, the traffic flows over a virtual tunnel interface that remains up even when the carrier circuit goes down, the tunnel remains "up/up", so the redundant route doesn't kick in. How can I configure some kind of monitor on this tunnel to detect if the traffic is reaching the other side?
