IPSLA/RTR Command

Hi Everybody,

I'm trying to do some testing with IP SLA and Enhanced Object Tracking and came up with a problem with the commands. I am using a 12.4(15)T7. From the track commands, I want to test the reachability of a host using "track 1 rtr 1 reachability" command. However, the rtr command isn't available now and it was already replaced by "ip sla" command. When I looked for "track 1 ip sla" command, it's not there, only track 1 ip route" is there.

My question is, will it work if I create a configuration like "ip sla 1" then apply it as "track 1 rtr 1"? Is that basically the same? Will the IOS treat the rtr as ip sla too? Thanks in advance.

John

Hello John,

it looks like you should use the old syntax with rtr:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/ipapp/configuration/guide/ipapp_eot_ps6350_TSD_Products_Configuration_Guide_Chapter.html#wp1055080

Effective with Cisco IOS Release 12.4(20)T the track rtr command was replaced by the track ip sla command.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
