Hi All,
I have ISR1117 with VDSL controller and modem firmware installed as A2pv6F039t.d26d.
Do you know if I need to configure any firmware under controller interface like Cisco 887 router?
Or is it enough to plug in VDSL line into the port to activate controller interface?

Hello Umutyasar,
use the following document as a reference for your device:
configuring the controller with mode vdsl2 may be a good starting point.
It also depends on what type of VDSL you have to use.
Hope to help

Hello,
which country are you in, and who is your provider/ISP ?
08-06-2019 01:27 AM
Hi,
I'm in Australia and provider TPG.
The operating mode is VDSL2 and using 17a profile.
@Guiseppe, yes, I used this document and configured according to this.
But in cisco 887 I configured before like below to use vdsl controller:
controller VDSL 0
operating mode vdsl2
firmware filename flash:VA_A_38k1_B_38h_24g1.bin
I'm wondering if I need to do similar "firmware filename ..." config for ISR1100 or its plug & play and no need to add similar line for the controller to become active.

Hello,
is the 'firmware' command actually an option under the controller ?
ISR1100(config-controller)# ?

Hi,
Yes, firmware command actually is an option under the vdsl controller.

Hello,
I cannot find any reference or sample config where that line is needed. Does it work without ?
08-06-2019 04:07 AM
Yes, I couldn't find any document if this line is needed as well. Since I haven't got any test line I couldn't test it. I need to send it to the site soon, I wanted to be sure about that before sending it.

Hi,
I contacted Cisco tac related to this query.
They told me it will work without this command since it comes with a modem firmware installed already by default, that is what was expected.
This command needs to be used if modem firmware upgrade required.

Hello Umut,
thanks for your feedback TAC answer makes sense.
The command is only needed if you want the modem to start with a different newer firmware version and this is not your case at the moment.
Hope to help
Giuseppe
