We have this legacy 1721 Router with a T-1 connection at a very remote site. Somehow the port on the Dell 2708 switch went dark to the ethernet port of the router. Before I did troubleshooting over the phone I called the carrier to clear any errors on their side since the circuit went down. Once it was up I couldn't get the 1721 ethernet link to come up until I tried a different port on the switch then the WIC/T1 card came up. Which is weird to me. I don't see how the Ethernet Side affected the WIC/CSU side. Then I had to reboot the switch and everything worked. Thoughts. I am in the process of ordering a managed 2960 8port switch and swapping out the 1700 series router.
The WIC/CSU is plugged into a SmartJack and the Ethernet Side is plugged into a Dell Unmanaged switch.
