Load Sharing in Bgp

Hi,

We have one Cisco 1941 Router. External bgp is running with one ISP. We have our own AS numbers with /22 pool of IPs.

Currently all traffic is routed from this Cisco router. Below cisco router, we have 2 firewalls running in HA.

we are planning to buy 2nd ISP. we will configure external bgp with 2nd ISP. This ISP will be terminated on another cisco 1941 router.

We want to share traffic load between this routers.

Can anyone help with this scenario?

Thank you,

Hi,

Yes, understood as it has full routes.

above configuration you shared provides information for outbound traffic filtering and internal bgp - right??

thanks,

Correct.

Thank you Philip,

Really appreciate your support.

I am currently implementing this scenario in network simulator - GNS3.

once i get proper results then only i will apply to live network.

Moreover, can you share your skype details so that i contact you if required.

regards,

I don't use Skype.

hi Philip D'Ath,

ISP 1 with full route has 155 mbps bandwidth while other ISP-2 has partial+default route with 205 mbps.

So can you help, what config i have to do if i want to make my traffic flow from ISP-2 instead of ISP-1.

regards,

I already provided an example that makes one ISP more preferred than the other.

Hi,

I need your help regarding above discussion.

My router has only 2 gig ports - WAN & LAN.

HSRP is configured on LAN.

So is it any work around to configure same LAN with internal BGP.

i.e. on lan interface, HSRP & IBGP should work.

Is it possible??

Regards,,

I'm not sure how you were planning on plugging in an extra ISP then ...

You could enable trunking on the LAN port, and create an extra VLAN, then create an extra VLAN on your internal switch, and use that to plug the new ISP into.

Personally, I would just buy another interface for your router, or buy a router with the number of interfaces that you need.

You have your own AS, and a public /22 - but you're using a 1941?

Just curious how much bandwidth your ISP links will be.  Also a bit concerned how well a 1941 can deal with full Internet route tables.
