is that a first generation 2821 (meaning, how old is the device) ?

Can you get into ROMMON (power down/up the router and press Break on the terminal keyboard within 60 seconds of power up) ?

thanks for assisting it's been working ..have given 0x2142 in rommon mode and reset it but the data which has been saved has been lost, could I retrieve that data??

with data I assume you mean the configuration ? Check if it is saved in flash:

unfortunately, no configuration file has been saved, so you have to start from scratch. Let us know if you need help with that...
