lost configuration cisco

Hi,

I have a cisco 2800 and I need to restore the configuration.

I know that the configuration was not deleted.

I tried copy to the running-config file but it did not work out.

How can i restore the lost configuration?

Couple of things.
1. What does the console say when the router boots up?
2. On start up do a 'show ver' what does the config register say?
3. On start up do a 'show start' does anything appear?
4. Hs the config be saved to the flash?
