My company is going to apply a mpls circuit , but i dont have experience on that. As i know that a mpls circuit provide by ISP can be a ethernet or serial interface. But i would like to know what should i config on the interface to make it work.

E.g. Frame relay need to define dlci value, how about mpls?

Hello, MPLS that is provided by ISP should tell you or ask for your requirements or recommend a method of exchanging routes.

Normally you would only used a routing protocol like BGP, OSPF or EIGRP to learn your routes to your other MPLS sites etc...

You do not need to define anything like the DLCI value if the ISP is giving you a MPLS VPN service. This tagging is done within the MPLS environment and is not visable to the customer.

So in summary, normally you would use a routing protocol to learn and advertise routes to your other MPLS sites. You would peer or be adjacent with the provider's router, and they will take care of your traffic and advertise your routes to your other MPLS sites.

Hope this helps

Can i use a static route instead of routing protocol? Because for the existing connection it is ipsec vpn, now is going to switch to mpls. Normally i just need define a few static route for head quater network.

Yes you can set a static default route to the providers address on that same segment
However, you need to ensure that the MPLS service router that is connecting to your site knows about all the routes in your network and how to get there.
That's the only way it will be able to route traffic successfully.

Your main site and other sites should also know how to get to your MPLS sites.

If in doubt, you should ask your provider of a best method to do this.

Hope this helps
