I'm trying to set up a Cisco ASA 5505 and need some help with routing. I'm mainly setting things up through ASDM but I also have console access. Right now while I'm setting it up I have the outside/Vlan2 port attached to my existing network and a laptop connected to the inside/Vlan1 port. More info about that:

Here is what my current routing table looks like:
Gateway of last resort is 10.10.152.1 to network 0.0.0.0
C 10.10.152.0 255.255.255.0 is directly connected, outside
C 10.10.153.0 255.255.255.0 is directly connected, inside
S* 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 [1/0] via 10.10.152.1, outside
Before I added that last "0.0.0.0" entry, the ASA would not see anything on the internet. Now I can ping any external IP address from the router's console. However, the laptop I have connected to the 'inside' port still cannot reach any IP address outside the 10.10.153.0 network. Every time I try to add a similar route for the 'inside' interface, I get the following error: "You have another route configured for this network any which has same gateway 10.10.152.1 and same metric 1. You cannot add a duplicate route." I know I'm misunderstanding something here. In order to make devices connected to the 'inside' port connect to the internet, I need to set up a new route that will direct these devices to 10.10.152.1, right? What am I doing wrong here?

Devices on the internal network need to have a gateway of the internal address of the Asa. Most likely the problem is somewhere else, not in routing. What does the NAT configuration look like?

This is what show nat tells me:

I didn't change anything from the defaults in NAT, at least not intentionally.

Can you post the following:
sho run nat
show run global
What other networks do you have on the inside other than the one that's on the inside lan now? Can anyone on the 153 subnet get out to the internet?

I'm not sure if I understand your question, but the only subnet I have on the inside interface is the 153 subnet. Nothing on the 153 subnet can ping anything on the 152 subnet nor anything on the internet.

Can you post your complete config (remove public information if there is any)? What's on the other side of the 152 subnet? Can you describe a bit about how your network looks?

Well right now just for while we're learning how to set it up, we have the Cisco ASA 5505 outside port connected to our existing local area network. Although our Comcast cable modem acts as the DHCP server on our network, I statically assigned the outside port of the ASA to 10.10.152.9.
Connected to the inside port of of the ASA I now have two laptops. They cannot ping anything outside of the 153 subnet.

Hi,
you have 2 options:
1° create an ACL permitting icmp and attach it inbound on the outside interface
access-list icmp_out_in permit icmp any any
access-group icmp_out_in in interface outside
or
2° enable icmp inspection
policy-map global_policy
class inspection_default
inspect icmp

Thanks a lot cadet alain. Adding an icmp exception did the trick. However, I just realized that the laptops on the 153 subnet can't ping each other. I tried adding a similar icmp exception on the inside interface but that didn't seem to work. Is that still a firewall issue or do I need to do something else?

this shouldn't be the asa this time but maybe a software firewall on the hosts that is blocking the pings.
